One of the blogs that I read, The Educators’ Spin on It, has series going about parenting with purpose. I was very interested in reading an idea that comes from Danielle – she set out to create 52 new experiences for her children – one for every week of the year. While I am not that ambitious, this post made me think about making memories that last and about all the new things. big and small, we’ve been doing here lately. Here are some snapshots from the past couple of weeks:
Easter was a lot of fun with two parties and two egg hunts. Anna had a blast playing with her school friends.
We celebrated with big pomp 7th birthday of Anna’s favorite object – her cuddle blanket. I assume blankie is seven, because some of her classmates are turning 7 this year. Anna made invitations and party favors (crowns) for this party.
She and papa went to Exploratorium in San Francisco. According to her, it was fun, fun and you wouldn’t believe what you missed!
She loves cooking and was very proud to cook French toast almost by herself. I only needed to help her get things from high places. Next step – clean after herself too ![]()
What new things have been happening in your house lately?

It definitely sounds like you are making memories in your home! I love the birthday for her cuddle blanket. She's very creative.

I'm so impressed Anna made French toast all on her own!
LOVE her reaction to the Exploratorium. I remember going there with my younger siblings once when we lived in the Bay Area. Very neat place!
I love the idea of new experiences every week!
I'm glad the Exploratorium was such fun :) I'd love to take my girls there!
My daughters also have to work on the clean up aspect of cooking ;)
My kids are always big fans of cooking "almost by themselves."
My Steven is from SF and he talks about how much he loved the Exploratorium.
We love the Exploratorium! When the boys are older I'd love to get a membership there. I think most of it was a bit above their level, but they loved it anyway. It sounds like Anna will have a lot of wonderful memories of her childhood when she is older. :)
I love these special moments that you have shared, Anna is so fortunate to have parents who prioritise spending time with her. That is so important to making childhood memorable :)
Those sound like great "special" moments. I'm sure Anna will never be short of good memories.
Anna has a great week every week full of loving memories!
My kiddos love cooking every week and just like Anna are proud when they can cook almost by themselves. And yes we're always working on the clean-up as well.
Last week the children spent time at their Aunt's farm. Always an adventure! This time there was a baby pig explosion. 30 and counting free range piglets running around. 70+ free range piggies all together. I call that a memory! As I said the farm life is always an adventure and a special time.
