Sometimes all it takes to keep daughter blissfully happy for a couple of hours is a pan with water and some colorful shells and glass stones. There was a lot of splashing and swimming in the lake and, of course, not before long “fishing” started. All the inhabitants of the lake were fished out and laid out to dry. I pointed out to Anna that this is exactly what happens to real lakes
when humans overfish. She replied rather logically that this is a pretend lake and pretend fish and we can put it back into the lake anytime we want. So her little dolls had a lot of fish for dinner followed by “chocolate rocks” dessert. In the end all “fish” returned to its decorative jobs inside the house.

My kids love to play in water too. I wonder why I buy toys - the simplest things seem to be more fun for my kids.
cute :) looks like she had fun fishing! I will try this out with A
Selena loves to play in the water too. I love how they can always remind us though that their world is completely different from the real world.
She has such a wonderful imagination.
I don't think there's a single kid that doesn't love water.
I'm glad the fish successfully got back to the water.
My kids would play in water all day if they wanted to. And I love Anna's logic that this is pretend so she can do anything she wants!
It is suddenly cold here, and I am jealous of your warm weather!
Have you seen those real chocolate rocks in the grocery store? They are so good:-).
This would be a great activity for Jack while we do read aloud each morning. I may even try it inside on some towels if I get really brave.
