StArt – The Best Pet Ever

The Best Pet Ever
We were very excited last Friday to receive a big package from Tiger Tales. They generously offered us to review their spring releases. All the books were very well produced. In a way, the package came on a perfect day when Anna was very sick with a nasty virus. All she wanted to do is to lie on the couch and to listen to stories, and I read her all ten books in a row. Over several days, some books emerged as her favorites, and I will review them in my What My Child Is Reading post on Saturday. The Best Pet Ever is June13_Balloon1 an especially sweet book. I was almost disappointed that in the end the main character gets a real pet, because we enjoyed reading about her efforts to make her own pets so much. Usually I always have to initiate a story stretcher with Anna, but this time she didn’t need any invitation. She immediately picked on the idea of creating her own pet out of a balloon once she perked up enough June13_Balloon2to be interested in any story stretchers at all. It’s not clear from a story what kind of a pet this balloon pet is supposed to be. Anna immediately decided that hers will be a horse and she named him Mike. It was too funny when she mounted her balloon and exclaimed, “Giddy up, horsie! We are homeward-bound!” Seriously, I have no idea where she came up with expressions like that:)
PS: I would love to link the book to Tiger Tales website, but to be honest, it’s not the easiest site to navigate. I wasn’t able to find this book there. I was told that the new website under construction, and I hope that this wonderful publishing house will continue to give us beautiful and entertaining books to read. In the meantime you can find them at Facebook here.
For more story stretchers, please visit StArt at A Mommy’s Adventures.

That sounds like a really cute book. How great that Anna initiated the story stretcher on her own.

I hope by the time you posted this, that Anna is all better.

I'm wondering if my kids would accept a balloon as a pet, and stop putting tickets in for the hampster at our library reading program :)

My son loves balloons so much, he'd probably just as soon have a balloon as a pet as anything, anyway. Mike is the best possible name for a balloon pet. :)

Homemade pets are the best--no hair or other unmentionables.

Hi Natalie -- Thanks so much for including a review of our book on your blog. The Best Pet Ever is one of our favorite new books! It was exciting to see that your daughter was inspired to create a "pet" of her own.
We share your frustration with our website and assure you that our new site will be active soon. In the meantime please encourage your readers to follow us on facebook. We love new fans! http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Wilton-CT/tiger-tales/183496001305?ajaxpipe=1&__a=4
