Picnics are ever popular in the house. They always involve very elaborate food preparation and packing for a picnic. This is one game that daughter can play for an hour by herself talking non-stop and making plans for what she is going to make, what she is going to eat and who will be coming with her. She rarely sits down to act out an actual picnic – usually her picnic is disrupted by a hungry pretend bear, and she switches into chasing games. But this time she was pretending that her picnic is rained upon, so she found herself a shelter under her high chair.

It's so funny the games they pick to act out alone. Do you picnic a lot in real life?
Picnic is played often in our house - it's right up there with tea party. I was just thinking that when I was a kid, I always played "house" and "school" and my kids never play either of those. Hmmm...maybe I should recommend that they try them.
Very cute! Nani loves to picnic too, but the past week has been WAY too windy for picnics. Hopefully the weather will calm down soon enough!
Anna has such a vivid imagination! How funny that her picnics so often end in near disaster =)
She could come join my kids. They go camping a lot which often involves picnicking. My kids make soup to go with their camping, but don't like it in real life. Does she make food she likes?
You've got to watch out for those bears!! LOL Looks like she's having a blast.
JC loves picnics too but usually one or all of her stuffed animals have a birthday to celebrate. Therefore, she's busy in the kitchen baking cakes and other food.
When I was young, we played school and community. Did not know there were so many variations of the same game!
picnic is a common game at our house, but it often gives way to requests for real snacks to supply the picnic with (boxes of raisins, pb sandwiches, etc.)
Oh Anna has such a great imagination! Just wonderful, hopefully next time the sun will shine and the bears will stay away :-)
So many possibilities with imaginative picnic play. It's great that Anna plays this for so long. We have lots of tea parties here (almost daily at the moment). We dress up, pretend to make food and often celebrate one of the toys' birthday.
Picnics are great! Our boy is too young for pretend play, but he loves the real thing right now.. :)
picnics are wonderful. we sometimes have an early dinner outside -- just for the fun of it.
There is a lovely Charlie and Lola book about a picnic getting rained out, it is one of Immy's favourites.
